Switch authoring tools without recreating your content

Keep your existing Articulate Rise courses and continue developing them directly in Knowledgeworker Create

Are you planning to switch to a new authoring tool but are concerned about the challenge of managing the enormous effort involved in migrating your existing data? You’re not alone. Companies face three key challenges here:

  • Migration effort:
You’re looking at hundreds of existing learning pages and know that manually copying their text, media, and structures will completely tie up your internal resources for weeks. This operational burden is delaying the launch of new, urgent training initiatives within your company.
  • Obstacles caused by legacy data:
The fear of completely losing learning content that took years to develop when switching systems is paralyzing your strategic decision-making. This barrier means many companies feel stuck with inflexible systems and expensive licensing models.
  • Increasing pressure on data security:
At the same time, there’s a growing need to host sensitive business and training data in a fail-safe and secure manner within the European Economic Area (EEA). Migrating to a technologically independent platform that guarantees the highest security standards and preserves your data sovereignty is often something that can’t wait for the stars to align.

Legally-compliant eLearning with Knowledgeworker Create

Why companies are switching from Articulate to Knowledgeworker Create

European data sovereignty and proven security standards

Full legal compliance with European data sovereignty regulations and flexible hosting options

Knowledgeworker Create consistently complies with stringent European data protection standards. You retain full control over your data at all times and can decide where it is hosted: In certified European data centers, via AWS in Europe, or entirely on-premise within your own IT infrastructure. You can manage integrated third-party or AI services with complete transparency, and easily disable them as needed. This puts an end to ongoing concerns in legal and IT departments, and ensures that your eLearning program is completely futureproof and GDPR-compliant.

Efficient content management with a single-source architecture

Knowledgeworker Create strictly separates content from design and structure. You manage elements such as sharable content objects and media in one central location. This means that any updates or design changes automatically roll out to all linked courses, saving valuable time and preventing errors during content maintenance.

Integrated translation and localization at no additional cost

International rollouts can be successfully implemented without expensive additional licenses, external tools, or uncontrollable translation costs. The translation and localization features are fully integrated into Knowledgeworker Create. The smart multilingual export feature enables you to bundle as many language versions as you like into one single course. This puts a lasting stop to the spiraling costs of global training projects and enables you to manage international rollouts efficiently, within budget, and centrally from right within your standard environment.

lawpilots chooses Knowledgeworker Create for its authoring tool migration

Lawpilots logo

lawpilots GmbH is a specialized provider of digital employee training in the areas of data protection, compliance, and IT security. Its offering stands out through highly interactive, legally sound learning content that is delivered worldwide in numerous language versions. To future-proof its extensive course portfolio, the company has chosen Knowledgeworker Create as its new strategic authoring tool.

When switching systems on this scale, companies often fear the considerable amount of time and effort involved. With more than 70 courses in over 35 language and country versions, content maintenance can quickly become complex and block entire teams. While conventional tools such as Articulate require each translation to be managed as a separate, time-consuming course copy, Knowledgeworker Create solves this challenge elegantly: all language versions remain firmly linked to one another within the authoring tool and are efficiently bundled in a single course.

Thanks to the high level of automation in our data migration, the move goes off without a hitch. Instead of rebuilding existing Articulate Rise courses from scratch, the course structures are transferred directly into Knowledgeworker Create. The tool makes the switch noticeably easier: the successful completion of the first milestones shows just how simple moving to a new authoring tool can be today.

Questions about switching authoring tools?

An overview of the most important answers

All we need to make an initial assessment is a simple inquiry. If you choose to go ahead with the content migration, you’ll need a SCORM package or an export file from your existing system. It’s extremely helpful if you can also provide the project or source file from the original authoring tool. We’ll provide you with a secure, GDPR-compliant upload option to submit this data.

Yes. Even large numbers of existing courses can be migrated to Knowledgeworker Create highly efficiently under one of our service contracts. For large course archives, we’ll perform a targeted test import first. This enables us to customize the automated migration processes and tailor the colors and elements to meet your specific standards before the actual migration takes place, ensuring efficient, cost-effective processing and reducing your team’s manual follow-up work to an absolute minimum. We’ll work with you to determine the best approach to ensure your project is supported as effectively as possible.

Our migration service combines the best of both worlds. Depending on the source format, we can perform parts of the data import fully automatically. If certain content, existing designs, or complex structures won’t import automatically, we reconstruct them manually directly in Knowledgeworker Create. Either way, you’ll end up with a clean, functional result that’s ready to use right away.

Yes. The entire migration process takes place in the background. As you simply provide us with exported data (SCORM packages or project files) for the migration, your current eLearning operations on your existing platform remain completely unaffected until the final switchover. There will be absolutely no downtime for your learners.

Translated packages for multilingual content campaigns can’t currently be automatically consolidated into a single, central Create course during import. Once migrated, they’ll initially sit as individual, standalone courses for each language in your new environment. However, as we can flexibly customize how the elements are connected, we are happy to advise you on the options for a custom migration if you’re dealing with large, international imports, to minimize the need for manual follow-up work.

Yes. In principle, it’s possible to migrate content to Knowledgeworker Create from SCORM packages exported from various systems. Our current technological focus is on the automated import of Articulate Rise content. However, we also regularly convert learning content from tools such as Adobe Captivate, iSpring, Lectora, and similar authoring tools. Our team will review the material you provide with your initial inquiry and work with you to determine the best way to transfer the content to your new environment.
