The challenge: Focus on data sovereignty
For years, the company had created its eLearning courses using Articulate Rise. As part of an internal compliance audit, however, new requirements arose regarding the infrastructure it was using and how it handled existing learning content:
- Data security and hosting: The previous hosting structure no longer met its stricter internal requirements for data protection and data sovereignty. The company therefore started looking for a content management solution with hosting in Germany and greater European data sovereignty.
- Regulated content: The more than 70 eLearning courses in its library contained texts that had been approved from both a technical and regulatory standpoint. Even minor, unintentional changes could trigger new review and approval processes. Manually transferring the content was therefore a last-resort option.
The key question was: How could it migrate more than 70 existing Articulate Rise courses to Knowledgeworker Create without having to manually recreate or modify the approved content?
The solution: Automated migration instead of manual reconstruction
Instead of manually recreating more than 70 eLearning courses in a new authoring tool, chemmedia migrated the existing Articulate Rise courses on the company’s behalf. All the organization had to do was provide the exported SCORM packages.
1. Importing existing Articulate Rise courses
chemmedia handled the technical import of the SCORM packages the company provided and migrated the existing content to Knowledgeworker Create. In addition to texts and course structures, it also had to incorporate various other types of content, including:
- Interactive elements like accordions, tabs, and flashcards,
- Multimedia assets like images, videos, and graphics,
- Questions and quiz content, including the associated logic.
After the migration, the eLearning modules were made available as editable courses in Knowledgeworker Create so that the company could continue developing them.
2. Unmodified reproduction of approved texts
The integrity of the previously reviewed content was particularly important. The approved texts were transferred as part of the migration without the need to manually re-enter or rephrase them. This significantly reduced the risk of data entry errors and avoided additional technical revisions and approvals.
3. Hosting and data sovereignty
The switch to Knowledgeworker Create means that the company is now using an infrastructure hosted in Germany. The new authoring environment meets its internal data protection, information security, and data sovereignty requirements.
